Terms and Conditions
 
A. General for the offers:
1.
The promotion period is from 1 February 2013 to 28 February 2013, both dates inclusive (the “Promotion Period”).
2.
The Offers under sections B, C and D (each an “Offer”, collectively “Offers”) are applicable only to customer who did NOT hold any products or services with Standard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong) Limited (the “Bank”) (include but not limited to deposits account, investment services and insurance) except Standard Chartered credit cards in the past 12 months (“New-to-Banking Customer”). Standard Chartered Credit Card refers to Standard Chartered Credit Card, Standard Chartered American Express® Card and Standard Chartered co-branded credit card (including supplementary cards and corporate cards) issued by the Bank.
3.
Customer will be entitled to the offers as specified under sections B, C and D below only once during the Promotion Period. If more than one account holder is involved in the sign up, only the primary account holder will be eligible.
4.
If the customer is entitled to the following offers in conjunction with other promotional offers, the Bank reserves the right to grant the customer one of or part of the entitled offers. For avoidance of doubt, customer who entitled to the rewards from "My Dream Account" offer or Priority Banking New Funds Growth offer or Product Balance Cash offer (collectively “Programs”) during Promotion Period will NOT be entitled to the Offers. If more than one registration for any of the Programs or Offers was submitted by the same customer during Promotion Period, the Bank reserves the right to process only one of any such registrations at its discretion and the other registration(s) submitted will be automatically cancelled without prior notice.
5.
If the relevant account balance (or premium under any insurance plan) is denominated in foreign currency, for the purpose of calculating any entitlement under the Offer(s), the Bank’s exchange rate (or exchange rate by Prudential Hong Kong Limited("Prudential") for insurance premium) quoted at its discretion from time to time will be adopted for converting the relevant account balance (or insurance premium) from the foreign currency to Hong Kong Dollar (“HKD”) equivalent.

Eligible customer’s subscription for Priority Banking service and such banking products and services as mentioned under an Offer must remain valid at the time when such Offer is credited or delivered to the customer. Otherwise, the reward under such Offer will be forfeited absolutely and not be provided to the customer through any other means.
7.
If customer terminates Priority Banking services within 12 months from the date of sign-up, the Bank reserves the right to charge the relevant customer who has received the offer for the amount equivalent to the value of the entitlement as administration fee and debit the same from any of the customer’s account with the Bank without prior notice, and customer may be required to sign and submit separate application form in connection with the foregoing.
8.
Usage of any redeemed items (including Asia Miles) under the Offer(s) (for avoidance of doubt, does not include any waiver as may be provided by the Bank) is subject to any terms and conditions as the suppliers of such items may stipulate. The Bank and Prudential are not the supplier of such redeemed items and gives no guarantee to the quality of goods and/or services provided by the supplier and shall not be held responsible for any liability arising in conjunction with the usage or consumption thereof.
9.
The Bank reserves the right to determine the calculation methods applied under the Offers (including in ascertaining the amount of any applicable balance requirement) and verify the customer’s transaction record in considering the customer’s eligibility to the Offers. In case of any dispute, the Bank’s decision shall be final and binding.
10.
The Bank also reserves the right to terminate any of the Offer(s) and to vary or modify any of the terms and conditions herein from time to time. In case of disputes, the decision of the Bank shall be final and binding.
11.
If there is any inconsistency or conflict between the English and the Chinese versions, the English version shall prevail.
   
B. First 4-quarter Maintenance Fee Waiver Offer (“the Fee Waiver Offer”):

Fee Waiver Offer is available to customer who has signed up for Priority Banking services during Promotion Period and fulfill all the following requirements:
 
a. Take up or hold HKD Savings Account, HKD Current Account (or any Foreign Currency Savings Account), Priority Banking Credit Card, Standard Chartered ATM card, and Online Banking Services (or Phone Banking Services) upon Priority Banking sign-up; and complete the registration of Online Banking Services or use the Phone Banking Services at least once within 2 weeks from the date of Priority Banking sign-up; and
b.
Meet the entry Relationship Balance (see Important Notes below) requirement within 2 weeks from the date of Priority Banking sign-up, as follows; and

# New payroll customer is required to start using the auto-payroll services with the Bank within 2 months from the Priority Banking sign-up.
c. Maintain the applicable Relationship Balance until the following designated date (“Designated Date”):

13.
After the expiry of the maintenance fee waiver period under the Fee Waiver Offer, a quarterly maintenance fee of HK$900 will be charged if the average daily Relationship Balance of customers within the quarter falls below the Minimum Relationship Balance requirement as follows:

C. Product Balance Asia Miles Reward:
14.
Product Balance Asia Miles Reward offer as set out in the table under sub-paragraph (d) below will be available to New-to-Banking customers who have fulfilled all the following requirements (“Eligible Customer”):
 
a. Deposit to the Bank with new funds of no less than HK$1,000,000 by cash, cheque/cashier’s order, inward CHATs, telegraphic transfer from other banks excluding any transfer of funds from any accounts within the Bank (“New Funds”) within 2 weeks from the date of Priority Banking sign-up to grow the customer’s total balance at the Bank, and maintain a total balance of no less than HK$1,000,000 until the relevant Designated Date. Total Balance includes the aggregate balance of deposits, investments and accumulated premiums of selected insurance under personal account as primary accountholder (“Total Balance”); and
b. Complete “Customer Investment Profile” questionnaire within 2 weeks from the date of Priority Banking sign-up; and
c. Successfully complete registration at website or a branch of the Bank on or before 31 March 2013 with valid Asia Miles membership in the name of the Eligible Customer; and
d. Procure any one or more of the following services at the Bank (under personal account as primary accountholder) with an aggregated amount of the Product Balance Requirement:
 
Foreign Currency Deposits (any currency except HKD) Grow the balance with New Funds within 4 weeks from the date of Priority Banking sign-up and hold until the relevant Designated Date; and/or
Investment Funds Services Total amount subscribed minus the total amount redeemed from Priority Banking sign-up date until Designated Date
Insurance Aggregate first year’s total annualized premium of all life assurance basic plan(s) (except for investment-linked insurance plan(s)) that are successfully applied from the date of Priority Banking sign-up until the Designated Date.
Premium Deposit Average daily balance from the first deal set up date until the Designated Date (“Transaction Period”); and/or
 
and the Product Balance Requirements (with calculation methodology more particularly specified in clause 15 below and corresponding Asia Miles Reward are:

15.
Calculation methodology for the Product Balance Requirement shall follow the Bank’s usual practice which includes:
 
a.
For purpose of the Offer, investment funds include both class A (with minimum subscription fee of 1%) and class B subscriptions of lump sum orders, as well as the subscription amount of Monthly Investment Plan, but exclude switching and transfer-in amount.
b.
Average daily balance of Premium Deposit refers to the sum of daily total balance of all deals set up during respective Transaction Period divided by the number of calendar days of the corresponding Transaction Period.
c.
For the calculations of the aggregate first year’s total annualized premium of life assurance basic plans for the purpose of the Offer, life assurance basic plans must meet the following requirements:
 
They are life assurance basic plans (excluding investment linked insurance plans) underwritten by “Prudential” and applied through the Bank from Priority Banking sign-up date until the Designated Date; and
Sold by Prudential’s Financial Services Managers located at the Bank’s Branches or by the Bank’s sales staff; and
Relevant Policy(ies) must be approved and issued by Prudential before the Designated Date and full initial premium must be paid to Prudential. If customer cancels the policy(ies) within the cooling-off period, the respective balance will not be counted towards eligible product balance; and
Remain in force (as determined by Prudential at its sole discretion) and the first year’s annualized total premium level must remain the same as (or above) the initial premium level determined at the time of issuance of the policies when the relevant reward is delivered to the customer; otherwise, the Bank has the absolute right to forfeit any reward offered in respect of such policy(ies) relevant plan(s); and
If premiums are paid on a non-annual basis, the first year’s total annualised premium shall be calculated on a proportional basis. If premiums are paid monthly, the first year’s total annualised premium shall be 12 times the monthly premium amount. For single premium life assurance basic plan(s), 10% of the single premium amount will be counted as the first year’s total annualised premium.
16.
Except for Eligible Customers who request for upfront fulfillment and complete the necessary documentation as the Bank designates, the Bank will forward the relevant information, including valid Asia Miles membership number and English Full name of the Eligible Customer, as well as the entitled amount of miles, if any, to Asia Miles in the month of June 2013. Customer must have an existing Asia Miles Membership Account otherwise has to set up an Asia Miles Membership Account for the entitlement of the miles. Miles will be credited into relevant account within 4 to 6 weeks thereafter. In case of information submitted is incorrect or insufficient as considered by the Bank or Asia Miles or if any of the criteria relating to this Offer has not been met, the Bank reserves the right to cancel or forfeit absolutely the entitles under this Offer. For avoidance of doubt, Terms and conditions of Asia Miles shall apply for mileage redemptions. For details, please visit www.asiamiles.com.
17.
As an alternative to the Asia Miles Reward above, Eligible Customer may choose to receive cash rebate, the exact amount of which shall be made available to customers by the Bank upon request and at the point of registration. If customer chooses to receive cash rebate, upon fulfilling all the above requirements, cash rebate will be offered to customers as follows:

The Bank will credit the relevant amount of cash rebate, if any, to Eligible Customer’s sole name HKD deposit account (or if customer does not have the same, Eligible Customer’s sole name USD deposit account) at the Bank in the month of June 2013 in the following sequence: (i) Integrated Deposit Account; (ii) current account; (iii) statement savings account; (iv) passbook saving account. If customer has more than one account under the same account type, the Bank will select any one of those accounts for the purpose of crediting the cash rebate at its discretion.

Standard Chartered credit cards refer to Standard Chartered Credit Card, Standard Chartered American Express® Card and Standard Chartered co-branded credit card (including supplementary cards and corporate cards) issued by the Bank. Outstanding balances on supplementary cards will contribute to the Relationship Balance of the principal cardholder only.

The life assurance plans are life insurance products underwritten by Prudential Hong Kong Limited (a member of Prudential plc group) ("Prudential") and distributed by Standard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong) Limited (“Standard Chartered”). Some of these plans may have a savings element, in which case, part of the premium will be used to pay for the insurance and related costs. A customer who has bought the life assurance plans has a right to cancel the policy within the cooling-off period and obtain a refund of any premium(s) paid less any withdrawals. Provided that no claim has been made, the customer may cancel the policy by giving written notice to Prudential within 21 days after: (a) the delivery of the policy or (b) the issuance of a notice (informing the availability of the policy and expiry date of the cooling off period) to the customer / his/her representative, whichever is earlier. After the cooling off period expires, if a customer cancels the policy before the end of its policy term, the projected cash value may be substantially less than the total amount of premiums paid.

Renminbi ("RMB") exchange rate, like any other currency, is affected by a wide range of factors and is subject to fluctuations. Such fluctuations may result in gains and losses in the event that the customer subsequently converts RMB to another currency (including Hong Kong dollars); and
RMB is currently not freely convertible and conversion of RMB through banks in Hong Kong is subject to restrictions. For instance, for a personal customer who holds Hong Kong Identity Card, conversion of RMB from/to another currency is currently subject to a respective daily limit of RMB20,000 per person per day. Customers may have to allow time for conversion of RMB from/to another currency of an amount exceeding the daily limit. The actual conversion arrangement will depend on the restrictions prevailing at the relevant time.
